Would you like to have a smooth experience at the dentist’s office? Of course, you would! At Gruene Family Dental, we make it a reality every single day for our patients. Whether it’s your first time in our dental office or your twentieth, we work diligently to meet your needs and exceed your expectations. Before you come, there are some things you should know that can help you prepare for a productive, positive appointment.
Your First Visit
Assuming that your first visit with Dr. Turnbow is a routine checkup appointment, we’ll bring you back for a face-to-face meeting with her, when you can share your medical history, goals, and concerns. Then, we’ll examine your mouth, take X-rays and photos, and thoroughly clean your teeth before we set up any necessary follow-up appointments. Otherwise, we’ll schedule your next hygiene appointment in six months. Overall, the first appointment should take around 90 minutes to complete.
Dental Insurance
If you have dental insurance benefits through your job, then you have a great opportunity to save money on your oral healthcare. We’ll gladly work with your insurance and file claims for you, so you don’t have to deal with these tedious and frustrating tasks yourself. We are proudly in-network with the following insurances:

Don’t have dental insurance? No worries! We offer a membership plan that can take the place of insurance without all the stresses that come with it. For example, with our membership plan, you don’t have waiting periods, deductibles, claims paperwork, or yearly maximums. You simply pay a monthly fee and receive dental cleanings, up to two exams (including an optional emergency exam), and necessary X-rays per year. Plus, you get a 20 percent discount on any treatments.

Patient Forms
Before starting your first appointment, we’ll need you to complete some paperwork about your medical and dental history, insurance information, and more. We ask that you fill out these forms online before you come to our dental office. When you do this, our team can prepare for your visit in advance and be ready to begin your appointment right on time. Plus, that means you spend less time in our waiting room!

Missed or Broken Appointments
We will confirm your appointment with a text, e-mail, or phone call—whatever form of communication works best for you. We know emergencies will arise and we will work with you as best we can. Please keep in mind a specific amount of time is reserved just for you with Dr. Turnbow or the hygienist. If you must change your appointment, we request at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid any fees.
